ViewNow To Become A Kasenna Division; ViewNow President To Head New Division
"With the acquisition of ViewNow's assets, Kasenna has become a single source for VOD infrastructure, applications and programming," said Mark Gray, chairman and CEO of Kasenna. "Now service providers can focus on generating revenue instead of dealing with multiple vendors, interoperability issues, and programming licensing. Now that we have the industry's only complete, one-stop solution, Kasenna has broken the VOD market wide open."
The ViewNow business will become a division of Kasenna, and will operate from its current locations in Bend, OR and Santa Monica, CA. ViewNow president Steve Roberts will also remain with the combined companies as president of Kasenna's new ViewNow division.
"With Kasenna's new products and ViewNow's VOD programming and marketing services, we have created the "triple-play"for triple-play providers: infrastructure, applications, and programming from one vendor," said Steve Roberts, president of Kasenna's new ViewNow division. "We can now offer this complete solution at the most competitive price in the industry."
ViewNow brings one of the industry's most extensive libraries of pre-packaged programming to IP TV operators through long-term agreements with major motion picture studios and other programming providers. Uniting ViewNow with Kasenna's video network system provides a true end-to-end solution including software for programming acquisition, encoding, management, and transport to customer head-ends. In addition, ViewNow provides pre-packaged marketing materials, including bill inserts and TV ads, and the ViewTrak (TM) application that allows carriers and studios to track customers' event orders and activations in real time.
Significantly, a dozen independent broadband service operators have already snapped up the combined offering based on its ease of deployment and cost-effectiveness. (See Kasenna And ViewNow Deliver Industry's First Turnkey VOD Service And Content Solution, released April 19, 2004.) "In the past, the burden of integrating content and several components from different vendors made VOD a complex and expensive proposition," added Gray, "which is why carrier adoption has been moving slowly. With the acquisition of the assets of the ViewNow business and our full-service video infrastructure, operators now have a turnkey system that's not only faster and easier to deploy but more importantly, enables them to create a profitable new business."
Kasenna is video with vision. Since 1993, the Kasenna team has led the broadband video industry with a focus on open standards and an intelligent management infrastructure. With its May, 2004 acquisition of ViewNow assets, Kasenna now offers network operators the industry's only turnkey source of IP video infrastructure, applications, and VOD programming for video services. Kasenna's software supports multiple content formats and viewer devices, allowing service providers, enterprises, and other organizations to build commercial-grade IP video networks that support new and emerging video services. Kasenna's patented software technology has been proven in thousands of successful and profitable telecom, cable, hospitality, enterprise, education, and government deployments worldwide. Kasenna is headquartered in Mountain View, California and is privately held. For more information, please visit www.kasenna.com.
