VimpelCom, Eastern Europe's second largest mobile operator, is setting new standards in content delivery and revenue generation, deploying Celltick's LiveScreen Mobile Content Discovery solution. Now all new subscribers across Russia have access to the Chameleon branded service, and more than 2.8m of them use it regularly, generating more than 400,000 download transactions per day.
LiveScreen effectively turns the idle screen on a subscriber's handset into a shop front for content - news headlines, sport reports, weather updates, music stories, gossip and games. The content is broadcast free of charge, with messages appearing silently, much like a screensaver, when the handset is not in use. When a user sees a message of interest, they simply click on the OK button to open a content access menu, from where they can buy the full content and get access to it via a WAP, SMS, etc.
Celltick has pioneered this 'idle screen concept' to help mobile operators publicise and drive users to the full range of content available on their portals. It circumvents the issues associated with mobile content navigation, and allows operators to provide easy to access content services to their user bases.
In the highly competitive Russian market Celltick provides VimpelCom with an innovative way of engaging customers and encouraging them to discover and purchase new types of content. Growing penetration of the service forced operator to increase licensed capacity of the platform by 2 mln additional licenses.
