iTVManager enabled NBC to deliver IP Television services including HDTV and DVR during the Games of the XXIX Olympiad

November 19, 2008

Minerva was selected to provide the IPTV platform used by NBC during the network's coverage of the 2008 Beijing Olympics (Beijing, China August 8-24). The announcement was made today by Craig Lau, Vice President, Information Technology, NBC Olympics and Mauro Bonomi, CEO of Minerva Networks.

Minerva's iTVManager software was used to deliver IPTV services. The service was used to record and view video delivered over the NBC private broadband network. The service consisted of three video channels one in high-definition and two in standard definition, transmitted at 16MB and 5MB respectively.

"Minerva was extremely proud to play a role in NBC's coverage of the Beijing Olympics," stated Mr. Bonomi. "IPTV technology has made great progress in the past few years and it can now be used effectively in such a critical environment as the Olympics."

"The IPTV service was invaluable to NBC," said Craig Lau, Vice President of Information Technology, NBC Olympics. "Minerva iTVManager gave us the capabilities we needed to seamlessly deliver video over our private data network - enabling record and playback of material as needed."
